Towson, Md. - Sophomores Kate Hynes and Kaitlin Slowey led the Dragon women's swimming and diving team against Towson Saturday afternoon by each winning two individual events. Hynes finishes first in the 1- and 3-meter dives. Hynes earned 251.20 points in the 1-meter event while junior Stephanie Battaglia placed second in 170.05 and Erica Belanger finished third for the Dragons with 106.60 points. On the 3-meter board, Hynes took first with a score of 256.70, followed again by Battaglia (190.60) and Belanger (123.20).
Slowey edged Towson's Stephanie Guttenplan to earn a victory in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:31.53 to Guttenplan's 2:31.87. Slowey also posted the fastest time of the day in the 400 IM (4:53.97).
Katie McCann also earned a first-place finish against the Tigers by swimming to a 53.84 finish time in the 100 freestyle. The junior also posted top finishes by placing second in the 200 freestyle, touching the wall in 1:55.84, and fourth in the 50 freestyle (25.36). Senior Alison Augustyn recorded a 1:10.24 in the 100 breaststroke to grab second place.
The Drexel women's swimming and diving team will return to action Saturday, Jan. 27 when they host Georgetown on the Dragons' senior day. The dual meet will begin at 2 p.m. at Drexel Pool.
